Thinking seriously about it if I can afford it, followed by the 75km the next day!

I did this a couple of years ago.  It's great fun.  The course can be quite challenging at times so you have to have your wits about you but don't be put off by that.  There is something very calming about riding at night in the middle of nowhere.  The opening climb is great as you can't see the top so you just ride along at your own pace.  You have the same back up and pit-stops along the way as the daytime version.

The course at Builth can be quite tough for the main event.  The 75km was a right epic two years ago - I went through every emotion possible.  Treat it with respect and make sure you fuel up at every opportunity.

TH - you've got it right to do the 25k with your daugher.  The 50k has loads of climbing!

I'd love to join you but i'm already booked that weekend.

thanks fir that advice BS, as i've never done Builth efore, so wouldn't have known. hoping Amy is going to do it, adn might tempt Pez.

hi treehugger, might be tempted.....

how soon before can you usually still sign up for these things?  have already signed up ade for something he doesn't know about....so not sure whether i could get away with it at the moment..

We will be there that weekend. Steve is doing the night ride and the 50k the next day. Not sure which ride I am doing yet. If you are thinking of doing the night ride dont leave it too late entering.

Am thinking about it myself, just trying to work out if i can squeeze another trip to Chamonix that weekend. If not then will definitely be coming along. Think K8to is up for it too - we were talking about it this weekend.

ok cool - i,m going to  enter then - sounds like it going to be fun.

Not sure I can afford it, will talk to my accountant.
Show/hide user stats

Just found this thread Treehugger! All being well we'll be there... probably arguing over who gets to ride what... are you all signed up now? Was out on saturday, first ride/exercise since my chest full of pish and was so slow and out of breath!! Probably won't be doing 100k this year!.. am around this friday/sat i think if u fancy a jaunt in the peak/wharncliffe?
Show/hide user stats

sure will be around ruth. am taking my daughter out on sat, plus another beginner girl i have met - think she's from crookes, meeting at hunters bar roundabout at 11, if you a fancy a leisurely pace ride, just up to houndkirk etc.

i'll also be able to ride fri. i'll be on my hardtail though as stumpy is poorly.

Still really fancy this, although can't really afford it, but found out last night that Ali is away this weekend so can't get there anyway.  It's on my to do list for 2009 now.

cant give you a lift, amy because i got robinn this time. i'm sure someone must be coming by your way.
Show/hide user stats
Maybe I should try and persuade Jumbly.  Think I need to take a car with me for all my stuff anyway.  I also know I can't really afford it, not with transwales still to pay for.  I need to find a magic money tree!

how about a bicycle courier service? TRIO Express Delivery

The plan friday is a road ride with TNT but looking at the forecast, it may be case of mtbs being less bone chilling...!!! so if u r around shall i get in touch early friday with a decision??

Sat sounds good, esp if its snowed! will need to ask permission first though! Ambling is right up my street just now!
