If you like this forum, take a look at singletrack world. I am trying to spread the word about shecyles and have posted a thread here and advertised the Swinley ride. Got a few blokes' backs up about us wanting a 'ladies only' ride but what the hell they get enough attention... happy biking everyone..

I like your login on there - bunny-flop - classic!
Assuming that is you.
Show/hide user stats
Yes, bunny-flop is me on STW, CJ had already been taken...bunny-flop is so true about me though I am crap hopping and crash most times -LOL

bless - you have managed to wind up the geeky boys! I think this Swinley ride should be cancelled immediately, it is clearly sexist.

tell me about it.. blimey they have got their knickers in a twist good job they're not coming....

It's quite funny. I've never understood why some people seem to think a group must be all things to all people. If you're a woman who doesn't want to go on all-girls rides fair enough! :) Should I go over and mention that when I met up with Anne this week I brough my knitting along? haha

But the singletrackworld forum is fun, if you can wade through it all.

I got fed up with the testosterone levels on STW!
Show/hide user stats
Ha ha Tina! I dont think ive ever seen a thread about knitting on stw! Hows the
t-cosy coming along?
Show/hide user stats
Checkout the classifieds AA - veedubba has been on there a couple of days running trying to sell his girlfriend's hand-knitted woolly hats - they look OK too.

Singletrack does seem to keep entertaining pretty much through the night albeit a little quieter in the small hours. How come no-one posts on here after 10.00pm - is it just me that's still up?

my hubbie had read the thread and he thinks it is very testosterone lead and take from me - he's not gay ! he's a petrolhead bike racer and was quite amazed at the reaction of some of the guys, some of the women need to calm down a bit too.. shows that you can't please all of the people all of the time.. (aka bunny)

Hi cj/bh what makes me laugh is that there are so many testosterone oozing bikers off their bikes sitting at a pc venting their frustrations on a forum........why arent they out on their bikes? If they did more exercise perhaps they wouldnt get so het up?;-p

AA - how true.. hope you are OK. am going to text/ring you with an update on all things medical/job .. have a good weekend

Mama - singletrack is very busy isn;t it shame our forum doesn't have more traffic to keep it flowing at times..

Although CJ if you sort through the crubbish on singletrack you'd probably end up with far less useful posts than on here ;>)

CJ - you did well with 80 replies! I do feel that the reactions on STW were enlightening - has just about put me off riding with men! It all seemed to be terribly serious, both with the male and female replies. I thought there might have been some empathy. By the way, I replied as "elaine".

Are we likely to find Swinley awash with an "in season" male contingent due to the "off-topic" relationship threads posted on STW? Do we need to employ bouncers?! At least at my age I don't need to worry!

I couldn't believe my eyes when I read the stuff on STW!! I thought it was amazing how same information posted on two mtb sites produce such opposite reactions. I cannot figure out how some of these people get so wound up about whether complete strangers ride with men or women.

I'm glad I don't have to use that site trying to find people to ride with - I would end up with a bunch of aggressive looneys based on that thread! ;-)

Imagine if there was a bloke who was only ever riding with a group of girls, would it be considered such a crime if he wanted to find other blokes to ride with? Madness, absolute madness...

I'm really really looking forward to the Swinley ride :-)

I have posted quite a bit on stw - not all about cycling but everyone posts all sorts of stuff on there. Recently though, I have found it a bit hostile - its like the Fast Show sketch where a woman suggests a solution/advice to a problem and its shouted down but as soon as a bloke says something, its like 'yeh ok, I'll try that' Me? paranoid? I have to say, I don't log into it as much as I did but I've found this site now which is much more grown up!

Why on earth did you post it on singletrack?

I got sick and tired of all the idiots thinking they are all god's gift to cycling and more besides. If you expected any sensible replies you should of kept it to shecyles.com

hello again Bikescooby
I've only just discovered shecycles. Good isn't it? I have learnt to keep my comments to a minimum on stw I have to say. My mtb is 7 years old now and road bike 1 year old but I wouldn't dare mention that on there for fear of getting slagged off. At the end of the day, I'm out there riding!

It's like a breath of fresh air from STW!!
Show/hide user stats
I used to be a regular on STW and joined a few years ago, I made some good friends through STW and even met my husband through it.

For the past 18 months it has gone completely downhill, most of the people I know don't post on it anymore. There is no way of getting a sensible answer if you ask anything.

I am rather glad I have found this forum. Its good to know there is a place to ask questions, make comments without some one treating you like you shoudl eb chained to the kitchen sink rather than riding a bike.
