Can anyone help my legs?

Looking at getting some knee and shin protection as my legs just keep on getting a beating everytime I ride. Methinks I bruise easily, just have to take the slightest knock and my legs are black and blue!

Struggling to find womens' specific. Does it matter?

Been looking at 661 race as the design looks more comfy around the back of the knee than others.

Any recommendations?

Hi Becks,

I have a set of 661 race lite knee and shin guards and I love them, size medium.  They have good velcro straps and you don't have to pull them over your feet/shoes like some of the Dainese ones.

They can be a little hot and sweaty in the summer but that is still more preferable than battered legs!!  Otherwise they are very comfy.

I bought some really cheap Brand X ones from either Wiggle or Chain Reaction, mainly to see if I got on with riding with armour before shelling out loads of cash. These turned out to be very comfortable are still going strong 5 months later and have definitely saved me from some right mashed up legs. I bought a medium and I've got good sized calves, I cut the strap off that would have gone right across the back of the knee, seemed unecessary to me to keep the pad in place and would have rubbed when wearing shorts.

I've got the kyle strait 661 knee pads. very good because they are slim fit, airy (for armour) and according to all the reviews one of the best.

my shins sometimes get flat pedal wholes in them but i decided against shin and knee because of the fact i mainly do xc and wanted something less restrictive.

As far as 'women specific' is concerned, that's a no! Lol!

The Kyle Strait 661 are pretty good, soom to be made with D30 Technology http://d3olab.com/ which will make them even better.

For knee and shin I use 661 Race pads (not the Race Lite) but they aren't that comfortable for lots of pedalling, they just offer that bit more protection for DH.

Personally though I'm waiting for the D30 tech 661 knee guards as I'm giving up with the shin protection to make my riding more comfortable.

Becks I'd def advise you to go to a shop rather than online. They all fit really differently and you need to try them on to see what works. I've tried lots of different brands and some are awful and others great. If you can hire them somewhere or borrow to try first that's even better as the first ones I got rubbed horribly within about 30 minutes of riding! We get lots of people coming on holidy here who get the same problem and end up having to buy a second pair or hire. Kyle Strait are great and will be my next buy, I currently have 661 race pads which are good, but slip down if i do any pedalling, hence the new ones.
