Has anybody seen the cycling specials that are coming up at Aldi on Thursday 27th September?

http://www.aldi-stores.co.uk/

They have quite a lot of dirt cheap stuff, that slightly appeals to me as a part timer, such as the waterproof trousers.

Has anybody ever bought any of their stuff and what do they think of it?

Believe it or not its actually really good value. I got some of their gloves last year, and they are still going strong (I do a lot of riding). I also got a wind-proof gilet from them which is doign the job fine.

Bits that fall apart tend to be zips ect. and the windproofs probably aren't all that breathable. For things like gloves/socks/hats though I'd say go for it. It doesn't really matter if you loose them at that price!

I have a few of their things and they are good value, the tops last time were really foul colours though!!

Lots of the people I ride with swear by them for value for money, i may go myself and get some of the waterproof trousers, waterproof trousers are never going to be breathable so I figure it doesn't really matter!

Also not had a problem with any of the zips yet, but have heard others having them break...

Think depends on your shape, have had a pair of longs before but they are slightly too long and have to turn them over at the bottom/have wrinkly ankles.  The tops are a bit too baggy and shapeless for me or at least the short sleeved ones of a couple of years ago were.  Might just check them out first before I form an opinion on the latest stuff.

I know nothing about the Aldi stuff, but just to add to the good values stuff (and as you mention woterproof trousers) try army surplus. I got a pair of goretex trousers for about £20, have cut off the bottoms and they work brilliantly - much more comfy than my pricey cycle specific ones. The waistline is an unflattering elastic design, but you won't care about that, and it'll be covered anyway. I've used them quite a lot this year and they've been great.

This is a BIG thing for me "I don't do Aldi", much to the amusements of my work collegegues. So much so last year they bought me a selection of Christmas presents from there.

I am known to my friends as the 'Imelda Marcos of Bike Clothing', if it's not got a name then I aint' wearing it.

Anyway I was dragged into Aldi yesterday, with a paper bag over my head ! Took a cursory look at the bike clothes and found myself purchasing a pair of the padded cycling pants wow what good value a tenner. Coolmax pad, not bad material. Infact after I'd examined them in more detail I went back today and bought another pair. Needless to say they will be hidden under something with a 'name'.

I 'm worried I need some therapy........

I love Aldi!!! I've been buying groceries there for years (mostly to save money for Gore and Pearl Izumi sports wear!). Apart from anything else they are closer to work than Sainos!  Anyway, couldn't get out tp Aldi's until about 6.30pm yesterday and was gutted that they only had overshoes left in a size 4 ! Jerseys were a bit manky, but I did get  some socks and a lightweight hi vis waterproof jacket - I wore it running last night and it was fine. Very breathable for a tenner!

The gloves looked good too, but even for £2.99 I couldn't justify any more gloves.

As a part-timer too.  I've just paid Aldi a visit and got winter bib tights, winter jacket, overshoes and over trousers.  For what I am going to use them for I think they will be just fine.  Quality seems good too.

Sod labels!!  Save some cash.

G-d, the stuff has sold out like hotcakes! My boyfriend wanted a hat as he always loses his. It took me 3 different stores before I found them in stock. The one in Manchester city centre was heaving. I got one of the long sleeve cycle shirts

I went to the one at Seymour Grove, don't think there was much interest in the biking stuff there was loads left.

I live round the corner from Seymour Grove!

I ended up buying my boyfriend 2 of the hats like he asked for. They came with overshoes, but they only had size 4-5's, which is no use to either of us, so ifanybody wants them, let me know by PM

I brough some overshoes last year but they only lasted one ride.

OK- so I'm and Aldi addict, I admit it. I went in for some milk and bread and saw they had some more specials in.  I came out with

1. A hydration rucksack for £8.99. Ok it won't be as comfy as a cameback but hell, it'll do the trick for a novice like me.

2. A thermal running hat for £1.99 (perfect as it covers my ears for those frosty mornings)

3. A caravan and camping guide for France for 99p as me and him are thinking of driving over to France next summer with the bikes.

I love Aldi and bargain hunting!!

Hi i found that the bib tights were to short for me but look good quality, i usually use aldi stuff for mountain biking not the road, u dont mind it getting ruined.
