Hi - Anyone interested in meeting up for (mainly) w/e training, in or around Surrey (outer London, Sussex also options)? Relatively new to road cycling, so would be great to hear from anyone in similar situation (or info. on women-friendly cycle clubs). - Emma

umm.... i attend a cycle class from 2 to 5 times a week .....in hope that it improves my cycling on the road... when i saw this arrticle i was hopeing it would encorage me and comfirm that indoor cycling would be an advantage to my out door cycling... but all it tells me is how the instuctor thinks sh is a better teacher than others... if any body has any everdence that indoor cycling is as good as outdoor please let me no... i do the indoor cycling for reasons that its a lot safer as i'm sure its a game to some lorry drivers to see how close and how fast they can pass me untill i fall off...   i do know that on a rpm class i can burn up to 550 cal and my heart rate reaches an average 138 with a max of 162 so this must help with road cycling....

emma there is godalming cc and http://www.charlottevillecc.org.uk/ I don't know how helpful that is coming from off road, I'm sure there used to be beginners road races at MOD chertsey to encourage women to ride

Hello
The most women friendly one that I've come across at the moment seems to be Addiscombe. They get at least 10 girls out on their Saturday rides most weeks and the rides aren't testosterone fuelled burnups

every saturday morning at Coulsdon South Train Station on the A23 out of Croydon at the southernmost point at 9am for 9.30am, various groups of different abilities - 30 miles roundtrip to a cafe and back

Em,

Yep, I'm in a similar situation...I've discovered I prefer road cycling to mountain biking - it may be that thing about not having to wash your bike after evey ride!   I'm in Surrey just south of Guildford but due to move to somewhere else in Surrey in the next few months. I'd be keen to meet up for weekend road rides...I would mostly go anywhere from Farnham to Dorking and then some (south of the M25). Do you have a pefered area?

Tracey
