SCR/FCR
flat bar or drop

I currently ride a MTB, and am thinking about taking up a bit of road training.I am looking at the Giant SCR2 or FCR2. Any comments, suggestions gratefully received. My hubby reckons I'm too unfit for a drop handlebar bike!

I don't think fitness has anything to do with it! The flat bars will feel much more natural coming from the mountain bike, but the drop bars will give you a lot more options for where to put your hands - on longer road rides it's nice to be able to move them to another position from time to time, which stops them from getting sore.

Thanks. I think he meant my stomach would lie on the cross bar!!
I've tried both bikes and have to admit I find the flat handlebars slightly more comfortable, but I was thinking it was probably because that was what I was used to.
No doubt a stupid question, but does it get tiring being lent over so much compared to a MTB?

I had lots of little niggles (mostly shoulders and hands, actually) when I first got a road bike, but they seemed to work themselves out after a little time getting used to the new position. The main thing that is a big difference is that you just don't move around much on the road, so things get tired and sore just because they've been in the same position for ages.

Sassy I think that you should have words with your hubby for suggesting that!

I like the option of different hand positions on drop handlebars.

Thanks for the advice. I'll gove the SCR another try.
