Hello!

Being so soon after Christmas my pockets aren't full of cash (come to think of it when are they?!) but I really do need a new saddle. Can anyone recommend me one for mainly XC? Nothing really wide and mega padded but enough to keep me nice and comfy especially if I am out all day. I've been looking at the specialized jett and the Ergon Butterfly Air Cell Gel Ladies.

Thanks in advance!!

Hi Amy

I've just posted a review on the Jett in the member reviews section. It's one of the best saddles i've used.

I've used the Jett, looks like a razor, but the comfiest saddle I've ever used.

Bikescooby didn't you mention the jett in a certain magazine article?! Looks like I might have to treat myself to a jett then... it would be rude not to!
Thanks ladies!

Just to throw in somethign different.... I tried the Jett and hated it. One of the most painful things I've sat on. Bex bought a load of saddles over on test for our dirtgirls week so I was lucky enpough to try a load and by far the best for me was a selle italia ladies gel saddle, the one without the hole in the middle.

It's very personal so see if you can try before you buy. Bex had talked about a saddle library, but not sure if that's happening. Ruth also tested a load in MBUK a few months back, but as she says in there a lot it's such a personal choice you can't really reccommend to others. See if you can borrow some from your mates to try out before parting with cash.

Oh yes I forgot all about the saddle library... I will ask Bex as that is the most sensible option! I am just so impatient...!

I've got a Selle Italia Ladies Trans Am from a few years ago - the one with the cut out. It a much shorter nose than the mens, you can angle it to get it perfect and the base isn't too wide so you can get over the back of the real wheel if you need to.
It was not so good for the road bike - it lets through little vibrations but stops bigger ones. I got a Fizik Vitesse Twin Tech gel for the racer but the back is a bit wide for off road.

I've heard the WTB She saddle is good and it's half the price of many.

The WTB She saddle is pretty good - we had it as the women's saddle on our demo bikes last summer. It doesn't seem to provoke any strong hate reactions and is very good value. I find it ok - better than most, not as good as some, and unusually, no one seems to really hate it. Now of course the next post will slate it :)

Ooohh- great idea- can you bring the saddles to our MTB event in Bamford?? July 28/29th 07.
