When I woke up to snow I had to cancel everything and go riding!

Cool, where did you ride? It was traffic chaos around Bolton today, I wished I was out on my bike!
|
 |
I went out & tried to ride but needed winter spike tyres, everything had frozen, thawed then re froze and everywhere was like an ice rink !

 |
I rode up onto Winter Hill, had fresh tracks on there, then down two lads, onto Georges Lane saw some lads snowboarding, then Belmont Old road, cheeky trail to Belmont and home. It was amazing! Ali was meant to drive today but went on her mountain bike, traffic was stationary.

I've not ridden in proper snow as it always thaws quickly here - closest I have been is riding round Cannock last year in a blizzard but it didn't settle. And we had a very frosty/icy ride on the Mynd on Sunday of course but that probably doesn't count

Am usually the only looney around here out on a bike in snowy conditions. However Tuesday did not have to go to work, then got notice that the schools were closing so had to wait in until son finally managed to get back from a gridlocked Bolton, when he finally arrived we went for a walk over to Rivington and up thru the gardens. Still conscious of my shoulder am a bit reluctant to go chasing out into snow and ice as well as trying to get a cold cleared out of the system.

tis the season to be jolly indeed. i dint even hang around for me brekky the first morning of white stuff and then on wed afty had a great razz through rivvy's chinese gardens and the like, gorg blue skies too. the pesky 4x4's had turned the rocky road into an ice rink so i dint chance launching the tarmac strip, ggrrr.

Today I was walking up all the hills, slush is impossible! Still had nice cake!

We walked down from the pigeon loft on the rocky road and met the 4x4's attempting to ascend. Right old mess they were making of it, polishing the snow into icy glass. One had to push the other up, further down we found evidence that at least one had lost his sump guard. Why oh why do these idiots seem to think 4x4 means go anywhere. Las time I met a stuck one was in deep mud on Mastiles Lane, the grooves were so deep he had bottomed and could not get enough purchase, we just snook past on the bikes, at 24 weeks preggers was not offering to push anyone, certainly not ejits like that.
