Since Saturday pm I have had the most horrible pain on the underside outer edge and in the arch of my foot, it is really deep and occasionally gives me a twinge up the side of my calf as well. I went for a run on Saturday morning but it didn't come on until Sat evening.
I did twist this ankle at Mayhem in June and it never settled 100% but I can't remember twisting it again, I also noticed some pins and needles in that foot whilst cycling yesterday too (have had this before at the gym but thought it was just because of the horrible wide, hard saddles on their bikes). Am worried now in case this is sciatica or something horrible though am sure it isn't as it's the wrong place for that, anyone got any ideas? The further I walk the more uncomfortable it gets
do you do a lot of running? I've had pains in my foot when i've suddenly upped my mileage but they've gone away after some rest. It doesn't sound like the right place for sciatica. i know it's hard but rest is probably the best way forward!
I twisted my left ankle very badly in January last year. It took a while to get full mobility and strength back. I had to stretch my calves and achilles every day to improve movement and I started offroad running to build the strength/proprioception up.
I also wear arch supports in almost all my shoes these days and had my gait professionally checked to make sure I had the right shoes - which I didn't at the time, the ones I had made me run on the outside of my foot and made it really easy for me to go over on my ankle.
