Bike only insurance

I have read a couple of older threads on bike insurance that suggested M&S as a good bet. I already have house contents insurance on which my first bike is a named item but I now have 2 more bikes that I would like to take out a bike specific policy to cover and not have to changed home contents insurer too.

I do ride at events , including ones with mass starts (for some reason cycleguard regard this as more hazardous, maybe for road riders.. they dont seem to have anything MTB specific) I do travel abroad and would want cover for transportation as well as theft etc. Not bothered about public liability...

Cycleguard came out at £40 per month premium for bikes valued at less than £4k....!!!yikes...

anyone got any lower cost options????

I think we've had cover through CTC in the past, and then just home insurance, but I think our insurer let us have a few bikes on the policy. Have heard lots of good stuff about M&S too. British Cycling do insurance as well so worth looking at.

We have just gone with M+S. - also for house insurance. Much cheaper than CTC or British cycling

I used to have separate bike insurance but found that I was paying about 300pounds a year just for the two most expensive bikes. As the bike collection grew I found that it was far cheaper to put them onto the contents insurance. I must admit I went with M&S and got the áway from home cover which insures the bike when on holiday.

Along with cycleguard other bike insurers are eandl, cycleinsurancedirect, endsleigh, ctc etc - it might be worth speaking to someone to see exactly what the policy covers though. Some of the companies do not insure bikes worth over 1500pounds.
