Anyone here tried audio books to listen too whilst training? I just downloaded Richard hammonds new book and listened to it on my ipod whilst out riding on the road this afternoon.. bit expensive i guess at £10.95, but i thought it made a change from music. Although i find music more motivating for faster rides, todays ride was about keeping at long low steady pace and it seemed to keep my mind off the boredom!

Never tried that approach. I don't really like listening to my iPod when out on the bike - I like to hear what's going on around me. If i'm ever on the turbo (very rarely) it's iPod every time. Perhaps if I get a medical book, I might subconsciously remember things. Mmmmm

listening to medical books would prob bore me to death, it's bad enough having to read them! you still studying? i have been doing a bit of revision recently, to see what i forgot! I know i am bad for listening to ipod whilst out, but would rather not know if something is gonna hit me from behind and not hear it coming! It makes me more alert/aware of cars from other directions having to look for them and not rely on my ears! each to their own, i am an adult and my job obviously makes me aware of the dangers before anyone preaches to me!!

jane, does it help you revise!! I'm not sure that research and statisitics will make me ride anywhere

Yeah it might help you revise, or make you crash with boredom! I havent got to do any revision since my graduation thank goodness, so i can listen to what i want! (til i restart my masters i guess...) The book i read was very easy listening and ideal for the long ride down country lanes.. try it...was fun for a change and i am easily bored!! Thanks Polly, not had chance to look yet, damn work!

I listen to my ipod all the time when out on the bike. I download books from librivox and listen to these as I can still hear the traffic Cath
