Hey..im an Industrial Design Student at CSM (Central Saint Martins College of Arts) And i am working on a project about designing secure bicycle storage for indoors. And my focus in this project is Sport Cyclist..and i havent got too much insight in womens way of dealing with their storage space at home, since ive only met mostly men who cycle for sports so far. ( maybe there is no gender difference in storing, but thats what im trying to see here aswell) So could you please let me know off how you store your bicycles at home. And is there any possibility to get some images off storing places in this Gallery. or even if you have some ideas off how you would like to store your bike or bicycles? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!! Regards, Anna

Hang mine from hooks by the front wheel in a lean-to on the side of my house. There isn't space for any other way. There's 4 of them in there. There's 3 in the shed too!! P.s they are not all my bikes!!! I wish...

in the dining room!!! safest place going...

 |
 In the house....

 In the house as well

Mine are leaned up against the wall in the garage. My car lives outside.

Ours are hung up on hooks in the garage. We have 6 in total but only 2 of them are mine. Must start building my collection up!!

Hooks on the garage wall, put up by my husband so far too high!
|
 |
In the dining room - one up against each wall - but hope to have a table in there one day!

We have them hanging from the wall in the garage ( from the from wheels) and then lock them through a d lock which is bolted to the wall. Only problem is childrens bikes and my BMX are too small so they are leaning on things. We have 4 hanging up, 2 leaning plus an assortment of children;s bikes getting in the way!

We currently have 6 in the lounge...

2 in garage and 3 in house. waiting to build up a bomb proof area in garage before putting other 3 in there. don't mind them in the house (spare room) much at the moment because were decorating but once all teh rooms are done i want them in the garage ideally. don't think they'd be covered fully on the insurance though. hence needing to make it near impossible to steal before we risk it

10 in the garage (only 4.5 are mine). 4 are hung up on "hooks" which fit through the frame and are actually a bit too high for me to reach, two of these are locked using big muckle chains to a wall anchor. On the floor we have 6, the most valuable ones - the tandem, our full sus bikes and occasionally my hardtail when I can be bothered are again locked using a large chain attached to a ground anchor. The remaining bikes are "loose", mainly the less valuable ones and the road bikes. The angle grinder lives in the house and we spent some money getting a much more secure garage door that locks properly, you could open the last one easily with a screwdriver as we found out when OH locked his house keys in there (I was away and we'd just got the spares back from a couple of friends). I think we have good bike coverage through M & S home insurance though I wouldn't like to put it to the test.

We keep ours in the house, cluttering up the place. But we have a large stairwell and I would like some kind of pulley system, so I could hoist them up safley into this space - like a Victorian clothes airer know what I mean?

We moved house to get a garage to put the bikes in. We used to have about 4 bikes leaning aginst the wall in the kitchen and about as many on hooks on the spare room wall. Now we have about 4 stacked up against the garage wall, and about 4 or 5 on a sort if floor to celing "tree" thing with big hooks on from IKEA. That's in the garage too. Then there's all the boots, shoes, tyres, tents and tools. The skis are balanced between shelf brackets much higher up the wall. The car is outside. It has never been in the garage. Washing machine's in there too.

Julbags - that's exactly what I mean. Thanks! Has anyone tried this - how sturdy is it?

I got a smallish conservatory added to my house with the sole intention of using it as a bike store. The salesman was amazed but I thought it would add value to the property and was much more secure than a shed or garage. It has a big floor anchor and various chains and locks to lock them all together- there are 9 all together (not all mine though) and the door is a 5 point locking one with locks on the windows. We also store loads of bike parts, tools, etc. but as far as I know nothing that would enable you to either set the bikes free or break into the house but I would have to check.

I used to store my bike in the shed but I have nothing to lock my bike to (other than a pitch fork!) so it is now inside in the hallway, locked to a piano!!! Truth be told I don't feel that it is secure anywhere.... I don't have a vault to store it in unfortunately (that would be most desired!)
