Okay, so I like both these 2008 bikes - trek 6500 wsd and specialized myka pro - already test ridden the trek and loved it, intend on testing the specialized this week..... Obviously I will go with the bike that fits the best, but what if I like them equally?? Any advice on what is best spec wise? Are there any parts on them that arent very good? I would like the frame to be a good one, so that I can upgrade parts if I wish, without having to buy a new bike. I intend to use the bike for cross country and single track. Im a beginner really - been out on the moors a handful of times on my current bike..... not exactly terrible but not very good! Thanks! nikki

Hi there. I'm having exactly the same dilemma at the moment! Which did you choose in the end and why? Thanks!

Hiya I chose the Trek 6500 - and I absolutely love it - had it about 8 months now..... As soon as I tested the myka pro it just didnt feel as nice to ride - couldnt put my finger on exactly why, but I felt much more comfortable/confident on the trek. I use it for mountain biking, and also commute to work on it..... its a brilliant bike, and havent had any problems with it so far nikki

Thanks, I'm leaning the same way too. Sadly so did everyone else, because the Trek in my size is really hard to get hold of now, but there are loads of reduced Mykas left...

I bought the myka fsr comp last week and i love it!!! i changed it from a Kona kikapu, the shocks are way better than the kona, my daughter has the trek 4300 and she likes it, must admit though the kona was better handling up hill than the new one. its what you feel more confident/comfortable on is what matters.

If you felt more comfortable on the Trek then keep searching for one. I looked at the Spesh safire, similar to the Myka and tried a friends Stumpy and just knew the Spesh bikes weren't right for me. Opposite to Deb though I found they climbed really well, easy to keep both wheels stuck down, but as soon as I was on the downhill I felt like my weight was always too far forward, like I was perched up on top of the bike. Hope you find what you want!

I'm like Jumbly, the spesh didn't fit me, I needed a size between small and medium. But my trek fits really well. They are both good bikes so it's which one fits you that is important! What size are you looking for, my local shop is a trek dealer so I could see if they have any left in stock. Where are you based? Problem is that trek won't allow shops to do mail order on their bikes anymore!

Message for: Trio " Problem is that trek won't allow shops to do mail order on their bikes anymore!" The reason why Trek won't do this is to help local bike shops survive, and I think it's a great way for people to really appreciate their local bike shop and value them. This way you get a bike that is right for you from a shop that you have dealt with and can trust....think about it! If trek did deal the other way, it might be even harder to get your hands on one to try it first! Sorry to blab, but am a local bike shop and deal with Trek for this reason. We have the 2009 WSD 6700 to demo instock to take out for a spin Lovely looking bike

No the reason they do it is that trek have a lifetime warrenty on the frame and people were claiming after they were damaged in transit. I know why they do it as my local shop is a trek dealer, I ride a trek. But sometimes if you want a specific bike as that is what fits you and nowhere locally has it in stock it would be nice to order it.
