dont now if any body else has seen the new specialized myka mountain bike 2008 model but i saw one today at my lbs and i gotta say for the money i was really impressed.

the mika is the D4W equivelant to the mens hardrock.

however unlike the mens hardrock sport the mika comes with lockout forks,

other features included octalink bb and chainset and shimano through out. as a great starter mountain bike for women just comeing to the sport a thought that this was a good buy.

what do other people think??

I was justy about to start a thread about this!!! I've just come back from the bike shop and have seen the Myka HT Expert £550

http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?spid=33034

and the Myka HT Elite £450

http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?spid=33035

I know it sounds silly, but they come in really nice colours. I hate the way people think that girls want bikes in pinks and pastel shades!

I am very new to all this bike riding mallarky. I have a hybrid (Marin Stinson) that is starting to bug me as I really dislike the riding position, the awkward shaped handlebars and lots of other things.

I want to sell it and get a bike under the bike to work scheme, and want to spend about £500 and thought that these two fit nicely into the category.

Has anybody got any other recommendations for within this price bracket? (Sorry to hijack your thread, Rebecca)
