hello, not sure if what I have is saddle sores, or infected ingrowing hairs or something else.

I've noticed in the last week 3 lumps of varying size - sort of garden pea sized, petite pois and normal large spot sized. They are in the gap where my inside legs meet my groin, funnily enough right where my saddle is. I have my legs/bikini waxed, so when it first got one 3 months ago, I thought it was an ingrowing hair. It disappeared quite quickly.

I've recently bought a Spesh Jett saddle (and have bought the right size according to the measurement of my sit bones). I'm also riding a lot more frequently. I change my shorts for every ride, and shower after every ride.

I have to keep changing position when I'm riding as they are quite painful. What could they be, and what can I do to make them go away and not come back.

I'd go to the doctors if i were you! My OH got saddle sores and the doctor gave him something to help clear them up (though what you have doesn't sound the same, they were not really lumps, just nasty sore areas)

I used to get them frequently on my old saddle as it was too wide and even now I'll get them depending on which shorts I'm using. My bum likes Sugoi chamois, its less tolerant of Pearl Izumi and ground effect chamois, the Ground Effect chamois I can only wear for about an hour and a half before it starts bugging me. Its annoying as I really like my GE witches britches but if I don't put liberal amounts of BodyGlide or Assos cream on then they will just shred me, I think its where the chamois seams are. It may be that the shorts your wearing don't particularly suit you (annoyingly expensive if that's the case) or that you are just getting used to where the new saddle touches.

I use chamois cream on longer rides, currently Assos but be careful where you put it as its got menthol in it to stop friction. I put it on the shorts rather than me and generally on the "wings" of the chamois only, I know blokes who put it all over the chamois but the thought of that brings tears to my eyes.

Sudacrem (or any zinc oxide type nappy rash cream) is really good for helping clear up any lumps that you already have. You could even use it as a chamois cream.

Hmmm, must admit I used to get these but not so aften these days after a change of saddle and some sugoi rs shorts - expensive but very very comfortable. I use chamois cream (natures kiss) on the chamois for long rides and try to get out of the shorts asap after the ride and freshen up.

But on the other hand it might be a epidermoid cyst so a trip to the doctor for peace of mind wouldn't harm.

There are a few similar threads on cycling plus - although men discussing lumps on the under carriage is not for the faint hearted lol.
