I know that cycling seems to attract a few problems with the back but I haven't read a post yet that matches my 'issues'.
I get, and have been getting for a few years now, tingling which tends to lead to numbness in the lumbar left area of my back. Over the ilial ridge to my spine exactly. It isn't debilitating but downright uncomfortable and I do get it off the bike too, whilst sitting for prolonged periods, but it causes me the most discomfort on lengthy road rides and generally begins 1/2 hr into a ride. I stretch after rides, paying attention to my back in general and to hip flexors. I have also had my position and bike setup analysed. Finally I have been to see a sports therapist who along with a chiropractor hasn't been able to shed any light on the problem. After flexion and neural tests they couldn't find anything obvious but did admit that it sounded either neural or vascular. I am at a loss now as to what to do, having spent a fair bit on treatment that came up blank. Their only suggestion was an MRI scan which I would have to have privately and may come up blank too......
Has anyone had similar experiences or could anybody suggest another avenue I should explore?
