Anyone got any experience of this?

The doctor and my Chiropractor friend both said it's probably overuse. I've been off the bike now for 2 weeks and it's still a bit painful.
All I've been told to do is rest, but it's getting boring and the Nightrider12 is in the not too distant future - I don't want to be too unfit for that, I'm doing it as a pair.

Anyway if you've had it what did you do? How long did it take to go away? etc...

Emma, I'm sure this is something that crops up on RunnersWorld injury forum. I've had a quick search for you and quickly looked in on this thread (searched for bursitis on RW injuries forum):

http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/forum/forummessages.asp?dt=4&utn=8459&last=1&V=1&SP=

Rest and anti-inflams are definitely the first line of attack but you may need to fnd out exactly what is causing it in case there are structural problems and your chiropractor friend (or a sports physio) may be more useful in this regard than a doctor. You don't say if your chiro friend has analysed you if not it may be worth undergoing it.

If I'm ever injured for anything I always go straight to the RW injury forum as its quite useful - runners are always hurting themselves. Also do a search on Sports Injury Bulletin:
www.sportsinjurybulletin.com.

Thanks for the advice and links julbags.

I got my friend to have a look and you're right there are structural problems, apparently I have a wonky pelvis which is causing all sorts of problems. He did an adjustment on it all the other day (which involved some unnerving clicking in my lower back) but I'm going to have to have another treatment from him.

Fingers crossed I'll be back on the bike soon.

It does feel weird to be adjusted, when I first went to my chiro I was completely lopsided and had a locked sacro iliac joint. I'm now pretty level and my sacro moves freely, it has definitely helped me.

Emma - welcome to the lop-sided world! It's very common amongst females due to a wider pelvic area apprently.

I have had this probably since childhood and explains why I've had various aches and pains over the years which resulted in me having to give up running.

Was amazed that my chiro could relieve me of so much pain, just have to get adjustments done now and again but do forget to stretch!

Hope you are back on the bike very soon.
