Hey everyone. I've been online looking of a thin waterproof pack lite jacket. All the ones I find have got mess in them and as I get really hot when cycling, they just won't do. I need something really thin to keep in my bag on my regular commute. Small bag, big jacket... doesn't work as I have to carry cloths, make-up, hair straightners (still want to look decent for work ) Any ideas where I can find one?

I have and really rate the Gore Paclite jackets, I got mine from Minx-girl.com but I think Evans have them too.

I have a Gore Tex waterproof jacket and agree with you... it's ace when it buckets it down although a bit hot. Just realised that the type I want might only be water resistant... I just want something to keep in my bag that is small, thin that will keep me dry when it drizzles. The Gore Tex Paclite is a bit bulky for my ickle bag.

My Gore paclite is small enough to fit in a road jersey pocket, but if your bag is really that small then Montane do some jackets that squidge down to the size of an apple. I have no experience of how weather proof they are though, might just be windproof?

Thanks. I'll have a look at Mantane and the Gore paclites...might find a better one than mine. Cheers

I have a montane jacket and it really is small, it's showerproof, I use it to run in but it wouldn't be enough for my commute which is about an hour.

Yeah I have a polaris one that i think is similar to the montane and it's good and light and windproof and meant to be "showerproof" but it doesn't take long to let the rain through.

If you already have a proper waterproof, and just want something showerproof then I'd really recommend one of the montane featherlite tops. Mine is a very fetching shade of mango, so nice and visible for commuting, it has some reflective stuff on too, and a drop back. Because it's windproof, even if you do get soaked, as long as you're still cycling you stay warm enough. I got a small mens one, mainly because it was 20 quid in TKMaxx, but i think they do some women's ones too. Mind you, you can get the mens ones even cheaper here right now

Just noticed they're large and extra large only though

I use Paramo tops, wash in TXDirect and they are waterproof. I wear them all day in the rain and stay dry, but they do work best with a base layer or micro-fleece underneath. Much more breathable than anything "waterproof".

 another vote for Gore paclites....

I use an Endura UltraLite but it's definitely a case of try-before-you-buy as the sizing can be really weird. Not many Endura dealers do them either, you really have to search them out (that guy who's always at the big races (Swinnertons?), I know he does them). £50, packs down really small and is completely waterproof, surprisingly breathable and weighs next to nothing. Has a thumbloop as well on the sleeves to stop them riding up.

Just bought a montane H20 for commute. Saddly like all water/shoer proof jacket you'll get some boilbag effect at some poin. IT's 42% of CRC and they have some small (wich aren't that small). It packs down very very very small.
