In terms of biking, road bike Lands End to John O' G off-road biking I'd love to ride the GDR route (not do the race, just the route and take my time). Non-biking, learn to speak Japanese and visit Japan. Also learn to play the guitar. Five years to go so I stand a chance of doing one or two!

The GDR is actually meant to be quite boring, was talking to someone who had a friend who went to ride it, at a touring pace. Got bored after a couple of weeks. I can play the guitar, although its been a while, I could teach you the basics Jumbly.

Ooh yeah I'll take you up on the offer of some guitar lessons, thanks! Really people say the GDR is a boring route? Most stuff I've seen people say the scenery is spectacular, hmm, might have to rethink if it's actually dull!?

Don't write off doing at least a 12 hour solo. I've done several 10 hour solo events and it's all in the mind. If you break it up into three sections of four hours riding, or four sections of three hours, it is much easier to handle. Also you will be going at a steadier pace than you would normally go. How about running a half marathon or even a marathon? I did a half marathon a few years ago and it was a lot of training and pain. Can't say I would do it again but I am proud of the achievement as I did it totally on my own. If I had a list, it would be: - 24 hour solo- preferably Relentless in Fort William as it's a great course. I've done 24s as part of a 4 girl team and it was fine. Next step would be to do it as a pair but I can't find anyone made enough!
- L'etape du tour
- Bealach na Ba Mor- I've done the short 45 mile event but this is 90 miles and the big climb is in the last 10 miles or something. It is the UK's biggest road climb at 2053ft (626m) from sea level in just 6 miles (10k)

Even better than PBP, ride the British version, London Edinburgh London, also 4 yearly next one being next year, so a full year to train for it..... , and you do not have to qualify so no worries about trying to get entries to those events, but it is advisable to do some events first and get used to riding through the night. Oh and it is 200k further than PBP so it is more of a challenge!

My plan is to do the C2C by road as already done Lands End to John O which I recommend if you haven't done it. Anyone out there interested in joining me for the C2C?

Have done c2c, whitehaven to sunderland twice, great ride with wonderful scenery, did frist ride when foot and mouth first came out so was unable to do some of the off road sections, 2nd time did the majority of off road sections. i did this ride with backup which made the ride that more enjoyable.

Underdog, try doing a solo next instead of pairs... i started on a 6 hour one this year (enduro6) then progressed to doing a 12 hour solo at twentyfour-12 a few weeks ago. its better at teaching how to pace yourself instead of "racing"a lap on and off...it was the best feeling ever completing it... good luck. I will be riding solo all next year, teams are just a nightmare! poots, get some flying lessons...

the P.B.P i helped suport a group of riders las year in this ride, its awsom, the atospher at the check stops and the sight of loads of rear lights snaking up the road to start there next slog at 2 in the morning. it gave me the urge to want to enter it . 3 years left before the next, plenty of time to plann.

3 years....... disappears very quickly. It is awesome as a rider to see all those red lights snaking off into the distance. As someone else said the hardest part will be getting into the qualifying rides, get your handbook and start planning your entries early in the new year.
