I love the red at Glentress too, but Kirroughtree red/black is a brilliant day out.

Hmm not sure I have a fave trail being a roadie who does rough stuff as a part of a journey from A to B.  Have enjoyed so many over the years for varying reasons, and found a few I would rather not return to.

However I will always have fond memories of the first ever off-roading I did, probably very tame by most standards, but there is a wonderful bridle path route to Coughton Ford nr Alcester in the midlands.  My first cycle ride with a club went out there from Cov on a glorious sunny day in summer and we had a great half hour playing in the ford once the trail was completed.

Hhhm I actually love my local trail straight out the house... 12 mile loop can be as long as you like though and its fast singletrack 90%. Just THE best thing after a day at work. Its a bit gnarly with roots and has all sorts of surface.  It winds through woods, down tight bridleway, across a golf course, past a stately home and mid way is a cake and t stop... sigh..Nirvana. Can we an all out hard core blast with gears or a great singlespeed workout...which in fact I usually ride faster...cos you have to.  I once read a piece in singletrack world called my 200 meters of heaven or sommat and my local is def mine.  I have riden this bit or trails hundreds of times and I still get giddy at the prospect of some bits...will its be 100%...if it is its gonna be sooo fast...if not you have to use your skills to weave and duck about in the trees.. its just lush...

 right I'll shut up now..............................

I have to agree that the local unused trails may not be the most technical but to be near your front door is invaluable and is a favourite of mine, cheers to MOD land
