Normal SD memory card or High speed digital memory card?

Other then the speed bit, are there any other differences to them.

Does it make the picture quality better?

get high speed one - esp if for biking etc as it will load on to teh card alot faster so you can take a action pic again fast.

you can pick them up from play.com quite cheap now. i dont think it effects teh quality at all but bf is teh expert not me. ( TN on this site is a bit of a photography buff too)

Memory is getting that cheap these days I'd go for the fastest you can bear to part with the £££ for. It is not so important for stuff like botanical photos (my 'specialist subject') but if you're wanting to shoot a burst of action shots, the write speed is def important - means the camera won't keep 'having to have a rest'.

mymemory.co.uk are pretty good for reasonable priced memory.

Make sure what you buy is compatible with your camera though (O/H told me to mention this and then disappeared so I am not entirely sure what he's on about. Sorry!)

Ah, he's back - says some cameras might not be compatible with the fast cards.

So, what do you think? Have you had much opportunity to play?

Not played with it yet, last weekend was too busy riding, but this weekend im gonna play with it.

Best place I've found for camera spares/accessories is http://www.7dayshop.com usually some good deals on there - I picked up a 1Gb high speed CompactFlash card for my Canon far cheaper than anywhere else, just bought 2 spare batteries off there too, again much cheaper than other places were doing.

Get the best/fastest memory card you can afford, it makes life so much easier both in terms of taking pics (no lag while the camera writes the image) and for the number of pics you can take.
