Hey, been mountain biking for a few months now but unfortunately finding it difficult to find girls to go out with. Been riding out with a couple of guys on and off but I always feel that I'm holding them back which makes it less enjoyable for me and it's boring on your own. Am based in Louth, Lincolnshire so if there is anyone out there that's not far from here or if anyone knows of a local group I could hook up with I'd appreciate the info. Not sure if there are any other mountain biking girlies round my neck of the woods...feel like I'm the only one Cheers Marie

keep riding with the boys Marie, you'll rapidly get to be a fitter and better rider. if they are happy for you to ride with them then dont put pressure on yourself if you cant keep up - as a beginner and with less testosterone than even the girliest blokes you'll have to work miles harder than the men so go wiv the flow and happy ridin.

Hi Marie Welcome to the forum. It can be difficult finding people to ride with and riding on your own is ok sometimes but other times it's so nice to have a bit of company. If you can't find other girls to ride out with on a regular basis, why not try a weekend course or a holiday. Some of these are "women only". This way you can improve your fitness and your skills in an enjoyable "non testosterone environment" plus, when you next go out with the boys, you will be able to see how much you have improved. As Dirtmonkey says, keep riding with the boys anyway, you will get fitter and as you do you will start to enjoy it even more. Skills courses can help tremendously by showing you correct techniques for tackling all sorts of typical trail obstacles. Once you have the basics you can then practice on your own. Keep an eye on the forum for organised rides/weekends etc and hopefully you might find something you can get to. Hope to see you on one of the rides.

I agree with all of the above. It's a bit intimidating at first and you will frequently have to close your eyes and ears but you will improve faster than riding with just women and eventually they will get used to you and you will become an honorary "lad" and eventually you might even be better than some of them!

I enjoy riding with the girls as I'm not left behind but I also enjoy bantering with the lads I was actually quite suprised that there aren't more female mtbers in the west mids, unless they just don't use this site of course. Shame on them if that is the case, eh?
