hi girls,

I'm new to this website.. I'm looking to join a team for MTB training and events. I come from France and now live in London. But I don't know places to ride my bike. I don't mind driving outside London to meet up a team who knows where to ride. Any kind of team. Please contact me!!

Hi Marie

you could try Cyclone MTB Club who ride from Woburn, quite a few women (quite a few more blokes) but really friendly bunch - I've ridden as the only female before now and they were a great laugh - some of them race - more of them ride for a social thing. I ride with them when I get a spare Sunday.

Ride evey Sunday at 10 am and its about 40 mins drive from N London - see http://www.cyclonemountainbikingclub.co.uk/ for more info.

Local MTB race series there is Friday Night Summer Series - http://fnss2006.multiply.com/  race at Milton Keynes Bowl this Friday

May see you there (at the race or on a Sunday for a ride)

   Thanks!

That sounds great. I definitly try to meet you there this sunday.

To be honest, I haven't been riding my bike regularly, but I used to race when I was younger in France. Then, it became all too expensive to keep racing. So now, back on track, I'm just looking for some fun really and I'd like to get into MTB orienteering or, as they also call it, 'Navigator'.

bonjour marie

You might want to try to PM old bird or gayle.

They are based around the exit 3 off the M3 and are nice and lovely girls. Plus they do pic nic rides.

I'll send elain a message so you may be able to get in touch.

I would offer to meet up in southampton for some riding but it might

Be too far away.

And you might not want to hook up with french rider or male rider. And I got both handicaps.

Hope it helps.

Salut foxy boy,

Merci pour les info!

Sorry, I didn't mean I only ride with girls, but I thought there was only girls on this "shecycles" forum. So I wouldnt mind riding with a french male, but Southampton is abit far..

Im North East London, so I was hoping something closer for regular rides.

I went to the MTB festival in Isle of Wight last week end. That was great!

And I'm doing the Gorrick TrailTrax in Itchen Valley, next week. Anyone going there?

No offences taken and it is a girl website indeed. I just hang around here as STW is too much of a banter at the moment (ask for help for a helmet and got 9 reply 8 of them were just piss taken) and I am in a helpful mood at the moment.
I have email the link to this thread to old bird so wait and see. Have a look here if you want, specially under the girls section. They might be a bit closers.

Are you prepared to go in the whole wild world outside of the M25 belt

Marie, I can put you in touch with a few of the girls from London Phoenix MTB if you want, I know at least one of the girls lives up in NE London.  Alternatively, just google for "London Phoenix".  Mixed group of abilities and they do a fair bit of racing too, the Gorrick Series, Beastway (that's at Hainault, not that far from you, midweek summer race series) etc.  Regular rides out at Thetford and Epping Forest.

On the other hand I can't speak much French at all, I'll leave that to you and foxy-boy!

Thanks James!

this 'london phoenix' sounds better, i think. it sounds more local, although im happy to travel anywhere else for special mtb event.

So im going 2check that now
