Small bike for small person

Hello with my first post.

I currently have a mountain bike ... but feel its too big (guess I was miss-sold).  So I'm looking at getting one I will feel happier on.  I'm 4'9" ... (yes really) ... and slender.  I don't really understand gears (I drive auto cars) .  I'll be confined to old railway trackbeds, roads, etc.  So guess a Touring bike rather than a mountain bike?

So what do folk recommend (actual models)?  I'm willing to pay for the right bike.

TIA

Hya Mini Magic. I don't envy you trying to find a bike to fit, but have a look at the specialized vita range they do an extra small I'm 5ft and had to get a small because the extra small was too small for me, never had that happen before. They do a range of builds. Good luck in finding a bike.

Have you tried Titus bikes out?

What about Decathlon, my son has a really nice bike from there with smaller wheels, he would have been about your size when he got it.  They do a good range of smaller bikes at not extortionate prices.

Also try a firm called Islabikes as they do child specific bikes with 650c wheels or 700c wheels, they also adapt their bikes for road cycling or cyclo-x with chunkier tyres, they also use smaller components such as brake levers for smaller hands, I know of a couple of small ladies who have them.

Thanks - I'll take a look at Islabikes (and the others).
