Hi I fell really heavily landing with my breast on one end of the bars - the other end being stook in the ground. I now have a really nasty bruise that is starting to get more tender as it is coming out, took 3 days to appear. Does anyone know am I likely to have done any serious damage? Here is a pic of said bruise:

Ouch. Concern would be any damage to what is underneath, as it is full of glands and milk ducts for the production and storage of milk. How any internal damage might be seen I would not know. The importance of this may depend on where you are in your life, ie still planning children/intention to breast feed, as damage might affect the flow of milk. Then there is the consideration that damage might cause some long term problems; cysts or worse. This is only specualtion on my behalf and think I would want further opinions/information about this.

my eyes are watering, long term damage should minimal due to the fat layers we carry there, but do get it checked out to be on the safe side to ensure no rib damage it must really painful

I did something similar, twice within the space of about two months last year. The first time I went over the bars and landed hard on a rock on my left fist, effectively punching myself in the upper left side of my chest, the right boob acted like an airbag (I thanked god for my big boobs at that point). The second time I actually landed on the end of the handlebar, on almost exactly the same spot as before. Although mine were higher up than yours and at the very top of the boob it really hurt and I had problems with breathing hard afterwards on both occasions, running in particular would hurt a lot. My bruising took a lot longer than yours to appear as it was deep and I'd got the ribs. On both times it didn't start to heal properly until my chiropractor freed my ribs, which made a sickening twang (ugh, can still remember that feeling). The first time it was about three weeks afterwards when my regular appointment with the chiro came up and it took another two weeks to really improve after that. The second time I conveniently did it four days before I was due to see him so recovery time was less. Basically there may be more damage than you think so go see someone!

a homoeopathic remedy called Arnica will get rid of the bruising in quick time - its drug free and harmless, just avoid coffee and peppermint flavoured toofpaste whilst using it. a 30c strength is wot you would need now that the bruise has come out - any health food store will sell it, usually in the Nelsons or Weleda brand. i had major surgery in jan with 17 stitches and a good battering my the surgeon and the nurses could not believe why i wasnt bruised - Arnica was the reply.
