Are Assos shorts really worth the money? £85 quid is quite alot to spend on some shorts?

I know everyone says they are and one day I will get a pair but at the moment I just can't afford it!

Like Trio says they're supposed to be awesome and if I had the cash I'd be buying a pair. My cousin swears by them & won't wear anyother shorts.

Seriusly I think the ground effect womens top of the rage ( cant remember the name) are the most comfortable for being in the saddle all day...especially on a roadie bike. I have some Pearl izumi that cost me £80 and they are good, very good but dont beat the ground effect for me.

I love my Assos, not cheap but so comfy....I am sure Ribble have got them on offer at the mo!

Assos is quality and it lasts.... It is expensive cos they use superior quality lycra and cut it properly, not just "fit as many pieces of the pattern as possible on to the material". Only that does cause increased wastage. It might be more expensive but it lasts longer so you do not have to replace it as frequently.

Other half, good mate and good mate's hubby, all uber keen roadies, all wear 'em, all swear by them. Fir well, v comfy for long road days, wash and wear very well.

I dunno...I've got a pair of Assos bib-knickers...and yes, they are good and very comfy but then there are other (slightly less expensive) brands that are comfy enough for a full day in the saddle. E.g. Gore and Bioracer. In sportives I normally just wear club kit which is a lot less expensive than Assos but still very comfortable for several hours.

Hi I bought a pair of Assos shorts a few years ago but was so disappointed with the quality I sent them straight back! I think they might have been the 'F1' shorts but whatever they were, they were hideously expensive. They were made of very thin material, with a horrible cheap-looking elsticated waist and lengths of un-trimmed cotton hanging from the seams. Am wearing Pearl Izumi Ultrasensor shorts these days and can thoroughly recommend them Jayne

...love 'em...!!! You won't catch me wearing anything else... crash-proof and all!!!

Hmm, I used to say I would never spend a lot of money on a pair of shorts as the first thing I would do is fall off my MTB and hole them, however I have recently spent £80 on a pair of Sugoi RS shorts and they are fantastic, though I do get on really well with Sugoi shorts and wouldn't buy anything else these days. The only time I have spent similar is when I spent the same on a pair of Sugoi baggies last year, but that doesn't count really as it was two pairs of shorts for that price( or so I tell myself). The RS shorts are just in a different league to anything else I've ever worn and I may even buy another pair later in the year, I am restricting them to road rides at the minute as they are a bit too much for MTBing and I don't want to trash them before I've had some decent wear out of them.

Sugoi...pearl izumo also....bought a pair at Mountain Mayhem from Girls run too for only £30 and they are so much better than Fox etc. Have a look on Wiggle...they usually have great offers! Julbags....you could try not falling off ??

I've never tried Assos but love Terry Knickers u can buy on Minx or from Terry in the States I never wear anything else on a long road ride I don't think it's worth it just for mountain biking though, with the right saddle I don't even need a chamois on the mtb and if I fell off and tore £85 worth of tights it'd be upset, not worth the worry to me!
