Hi, been looking at getting a  SPECIALIZED Dolce in the shop i tried a 48cm an only had 1/2" stand over but felt comfortable. But the guy in the shop recons i should get the 44cm so got to wait till Tuesday to try it. I'm 5ft 2" so what do you think i should go for?

Try the 44cm and see which feels the best, 44cm sounds small to me for your height.  But you will know when you have tried them both.

I'm 5' 3" and ride a 51cm spesh, depends what suits you really.  Standover is not so important on a road bike, reach from the saddle to the bars is very important though.

I'm 5'3" and did have a 44cm with 650cc wheels for a short while. It seemed fine in the shop but once I got out and about on it it did seem a tad too small - have since sold it but would definately go for a larger frame next time.

Also didn't like the 650cc wheels - found it very, very hard to get the tyres back on after puncturing (even using two different makes of tyres and loads of washing up liquid). I don't know whether the smaller wheel made it more difficult but hubby had the same bike in a 54cm with 700cc wheels and we had no problems changing the tyres.  Has anyone else had this experience with 650 wheels? Sorry to go off topic

Im 5"2 and looking at getting a 44cm Planet X TT bike with 650 wheels and making it in to a road bike as i find the top tubes on bikes the biggest issue for me.  The top tube is 49 i think. If you're going to be riding for quite a few hours you need to be comfortable. Currently my Bianchi has a 51 top tube and i have to use a Ergo stem to shorten it, but for racinging my TT bike with 51 top tube is fine.

Update:    Well i got the 44cm and its fine.

Been riding to work 2-3 times a wk an alls going well, tell the true i can't believe how much i am enjoying it. Just a shame about the state of the roads an drivers.
