Noticed this when I was writing a review on these shoes

These are fantastic winter shoes for £39.99.

I can second that- these are great winter boots. Not waterproof but much more sturdy than normal shoes. Best buy a size bigger so you can wear either waterproof of thick winter socks.

Cheers Pez - I need some of these. Definitely gonna grab this bargain. Thanks!

Is the sizing normal or do they come up big already to pre-empt wearing thick socks? Just don't want to go too big and get the sloppy heal feeling!

The sizing is actually on the small side with normal socks, they are narrow as well so beware of that. I'm normally a size 5 and a five in the W101 basically crippled my feet without thick socks on. I have the newer Shimano boots and I actually went up two sizes to be able to wear thick sealskins under then and not squash my toes.

Thanks for the tip - have just ordered some - my old red ones have always been too small - I have gone up a size so hope they will be big enough.

I don't wear thick socks and they're a snug fit. Andy recommends wearing the sealskins with them to make them totally waterproof. Go 1 size up.

If in doubt just go into JE James and try on a pair of shimanos. No need to worry about interferance from an assistance as their customer service is so bad - I always try things in there I intend to buy on the internet as no one has ever asked me if I need help.

No fair! The 40s are £5 more than the 39s. What's with that?

Often don't have to pay VAT on sizes up to UK size 6 - supposedly "kids" sizes. Agree that discrimination against big feet sucks!

Shouldn't be a golf club.

At least I won't have liquorice torpedoes on my feet
