Hi Ros,
Hope you managed Jacobs ladder ok...I didn't :-) A&E for me that night, but turns out i am indestructable, although probably lower in confidence.

Hello Ros,
Wow your ride sounded great. I like Caroline, have never managed Jacobs Ladder either. Also had a bad fall at the top of the sunken road ( after Rushup edge) a few years ago.

Hows it going Caroline, we didn't know you were leaving the peaks behind? We,re going away with Kiwi John and Caroline in a few weeks riding Hawes.

Oh no Caroline - what happened?!! Are you ok? Sounds like you should join Jane's club as she had a bad fall last weekend as well.

I found Jacob's ladder fine - easier coming down than going up anyway. I went down Stanage causeway on Sunday was pretty full on. Managed to avoid any crashes this weekend though which was a bonus.

Let us know next time you are up in the Peaks Caroline - maybe we could go riding together?

I'm fine now, I'm just annoyed i didn't ride it all. I did the top section of jacobs ladder ok, but it was the bottom section between the corner and the little bridge where I went over the handlebars, landed on rocks and hurt my elbow.
Bless the boys i was with, they were really patient and helpful. Anyway I am going out with my new work colleagues (who are all suitably impressed by my collection of bruises and gravel rash) on thursday to hopefully build a bit of confidence back up.

Jane, I bet you have a great time in Hawes, I am a big fan of Bradley and Kiwi John, they are great.

Ros, I would love to go for a ride, but I am afraid I would slow you right down :-) Currently I am supposed to be coming up on weekends to tart up my house so i can put it on the market, and last weekend has taught me that in order for me to acheive this, I should not go mountain biking :-(

We're in the Peaks in a few weeks time and I'd like to try Jacobs Ladder. I've walked it years ago but can't find it on the map - does anyone have a grid ref?
Show/hide user stats
Caroline - I am sure you wouldn't slow me down - I don't ride particularly fast up hills as you may have noticed on Saturday. Let me know if you do want to come out sometime - there is a forum ride from Hope on the 1st Oct.

Radders - grid ref for bottom on Jacob's Ladder is: SK 088 862. It is virtually impossible to ride up but good fun to come down so would recommend coming down it if your route allows!!

Thanks Ros!

Ros and Caroline, I am seriously impressed that you rode Jacobs ladder. I have always walked it. Fancy doing the Hard bit Caroline and falling near the end. Come out with us Oct. 1st.
We will be near Jacobs ladder for this ride, but if anyone wants to divert and do it themselves I won't stop you!
Still not sure about Thurs. Ros. The weather forecast is bad as well. If I can't make it what about Fri. Instead? I'll let you know.
P.S John and Caroline Bradley are newly engaged :0)

Jane - I am still up for Thursday and can't really make friday as I won't get home from work until 6.30. Last Thursday the weather was terrible all day and then it cleared up by 6pm so I went out on my bike. Shall we see what the weather is like on Thurs and then decide? I could do Weds instead if that is better for you.

Sorry tomorrow is no good Ros, got another viewing.
If I come on Thurs. I will drive over. It took an hour last time to get to your house on the bike and I would be worried cycling back on my own in the dark.
Show/hide user stats
OK no probs. Just let me know what you want to do on Thurs.

Hi Everyone - just to let you know that Mrs NBT and I are going to be riding together this Thursday night. Starting at 6.30pm from the sett valley car park in Hayfield. Will probably be out for a couple of hours so good lights are essential.

Anyone fancy joining us?

Hi Ros and Mrs MBT,

Sounds like you've been having fun. Just got back from holiday and have to say I missed my bike. got to work this Thursday do you think you'll be free next Wednesday night, as I have to work Thursdays from now on? Mrs MBT your new pace sounds great to me!!

Hi K8to - how was your holiday? Hope you had fun. We had a good ride last night from Hayfield - our first night ride which made things a bit interesting but lots of fun!

If you are around on Sunday then we have got a forum ride planned from Hope - I think we are meeting at 10am for a 10.30 start. The ride will be about 3 hours.

As for next week - I could Wednesday but Thursday is better for me. It would probably have to be a 6.30/ 7 start if it were Weds. What about you Jane?

Hello K8to.Hope you had a good rest.
Yes Thursdays are better for me really. We're booked up the rest of the week sadly.

Maybe I could do the one after next! sorry not much help there.

Just got back from my Mums, she is mortified that Ros and I went riding in the dark( 2 women on their own on the moors, will surely be hung, drawn and quartered.) Even when I explained that at the last minute Martyn came too. I suppose to people that don't mtb at night in the dark it must seem totally bonkers.

Hi Jane/ K8to - if it is ok with you K8to then we will stick with Thursday this week. But the week after I could do Tues or Weds (10 or 11th)- which is best with both of you?

Jane - can you make 6pm this Thurs?
Show/hide user stats
As far as I know Ros that is fine. We will put our heads together for a route.

Can't do Tuesdays, as I don't have the car, or Mondays for that matter, See you tomorrow.

Hi there,

Just realized that I have an exam coming up so will have to hang up my cycling helmet for now. Could you do Wednesday the 18th? And would it be O.K. to bring my friend Pete along, he is way better than me ( which really isn't hard!)Don't have too much fun without me, not fair!
Show/hide user stats
I am away in Spain over the week 14-21 Oct so won't be aroud for the 18th. I could probably do the Tues or Weds when I get back instead. Will be in touch.

What about you Jane? Could you do the 18th?

Hello K8to,
Can I let you know nearer the time. I usually work Wednesdays.

Please bring along who you like, the more the merrier.
Do you have lights? I'm a wuss and have a helmet light plus a normal light.
