i'm pretty much an all weather rider, but isn't one right to expect just a bit of a let up in this incessant rain. i think i've had two rides in the sun this year!

i suppose it does mean having to buy nice weratherproof bike gear which is nice.

how can we stay positive and motivated girls - when its just rain, rain, rain.

or perhaps its different down south

Ahh but rain means mud and I like getting muddy  That's why I moved to Wales (you'll have seen the advert...!)

Where do you live that you are getting incessant rain????

My garden has been parched I have emptied my water butt twice sofar this year whilst waiting for rain and even resorted to the hosepipe.  I am fed up that it has seemed generaly quite cool with a cold wind blowing but I have certainly not ridden in incessant rain yet.

Yes I got wet last thursday, a little bit of rain on friday, and it rained yesterday on my way home from work.  Other than that there have been 2 or 3 other occasions when I have had to wear my waterproofs since Easter weekend.

I am fed up of the wind!  Rain there hasn't been so much of.  Got caught in it today but that's it.  But every ride involves fighting a head wind at some point.

I am sure the winds have been getting worse over recent years, I really do not recall riding in so many strong winds when I first started riding, the wind strength was something we never really considered, certainly not a regular basis.

I agree with Sharon and we live in the lee of the wettest city in England so wots going on...

ooer  live  sheffield on the edge of the Peak - and it just seems to rain every day at the moment. CLoud and rain just seem to cling to all the high ground.

i dont mind if its light showers, usually still go out,  but it makes it a bit hard to plan really long rides when there is rain expected every day. sharon where do you live - i'm moving!

a lot of wind here too in - pennines

having said that - it was a beautiful evening. musta heard me!

Not sure I want to go back to Manchester in 10 days time, just know it'll be raining there most days

Carolyn and I live in the beautiful West Pennine Moors, come and join us.

Jen Manchester is not that wet, well not this year anyway.

Are you back at work now Sharon?
Show/hide user stats

Yes , so it means the visits to the gym, swimming pool, and cycling have taken a bit of a nose dive as I have had to juggle 9-5 working to fit around Andrew going to school.  Back on proper shifts next week, so only work on the days he is with his dad and it makes it much easier to get to work by bike and do other training .

Started on lighter duties in the clinic to begin with, still some varying aches and pains and loss of mobility, but hopefully should get there...

Oooops sorry for gatecrashing the thread....

Head over to the alps, we've had almost constant sun for two weeks! Although with the changeability of weather in the mountains who know what will happen in a few days time Am just hoping it stays good at least until after the Megavalanche next weekend.

Nothing wrong with the weather in West Yorkshire, just got in from a lovely ride in the sun.  Stopped at the Jersey ice cream shop just for good measure.

A nice evening ride with Ali M so sunny and lovely round Bolton.

...and despite the recent damp weather we have had, have just realised hanging baskets look rather sorry for themselves and in desperate need of a drink. ooooooops!!!

Mmmm doing the Pennine challenge tomorrow think it might be a it damp.

Sharon I ahve got a road bike now and was saying to Trio I wanted to do the ride out to Southport, when it is nice though !!

Dude - not in my bit of west yorks! n my experience we get the same weather as Sheffiled though, and it's been like Treehugger says. We are less than 2 miles from S Yorks border though.

Treehugger - we had that fab long weekend in Kielder though, when the rest of the country had gales and floods!

ooh goody another recruit, all the way to Southport or just out in that general direction?

We'll have you out time trialling next but will have to get rid of those flat bars
