I take it you don't like Prodigy lookalike MTB'ers with green horns then Caroline !!! Has Derby nothing better to offer

I've made it a Spring resolution (NY's resolutions are sooo predictable) to pluck up the courage to go and speak to Prodigy lookalike Carolyn! Does that mean he's young free and single then?! Still no sure about the green horns though, but I don't think they're currently the order of the day... PBM aside, I wouldn't mind a lesson in basic DH skills

On the topic, i guess, how do you get a non MTB/cycling boyfriend to become a MTB/cyclist???
|
 |
Sulk. Force them to go on a mtb holiday with you (where they can hire a decent bike). Then force them to buy a bike. It worked for me!!
|
 |
Do they pick it up pretty quickly? Guys usually pick up most sports quicker than women, from what i have noticed.

I was already a MTber beginner when I decided I wanted to meet a fellow biker, as I was heading for 40 and still single. Trouble was I was unfit and overweight and couldn't imagine joining a cycling club as I'd never be able to keep up. So a friend had had luck on the internet and I joined Match.com; I narrowed my search to "mountainbiking" "employed" and "no children" (didn't want weekends took up with babysitting ) and met Steve within 2 weeks. Our 2nd date was a spin around Ladybower Reservoir. We got married 2006. I have fibbed a couple of times in the past and told people we'd met mountainbiking (well, sort of!), but now I don't care and always tell the true story. Anyone else met on the 'net?

 Yes, many frogs

Just buy them a bike and then organise a biking holiday, it worked for me Denise. I'm still more into biking though than Ali.

hehehe It's now my plan! Thanks.

I met my other half on line by abusing him on a message board ! He fell for my lovely ladylike charms and delicate language almost 9 years ago and we've lived together for the last 8. we tell everybody that too, we're nerds and we're not ashamed ! he used to ride bikes years ago, then after he nearly died 4 years ago he decided to get fit, last year he took me to llandegla and it all went uphill/downhill from there. Now I'm the one nagging to go places with bikes when there is snow on the ground and everybody sane is indoors !
|
 |
i had to read that as i thought he'd nearly died biking then stopped. you'll have to tell me the full story tomorrow! ps. i met my bf via a climbing forum when he asked for help moving to sheffield, we met up after so he could thank me for the advice and we hit it off immediately - so thats kinda t'net geekage.

I fit the bill for what caroline is looking for but she'll have to like the small skinny scorny type of guy Sorry I couldn't resist IGMC

AngieMc I met my hubs-to-be online too (Love@Lycos). Got him to thank for my love of mountain biking and he proposed at the top of a hill on a route round Ladybower We're getting married out in Whistler next February (was going to do it in summer and mountain bike on our honeymoon but got scared of cougars so opting for skiing/snowbarding instead...)

Hey Moobag, your wedding sounds perfect! I'd also be scared of the cougars as I don't go fast enough to outbike them . We had a small ceremony in Central Park as hubby doesn't like a lot of fuss - but, of course, a wedding party in kilts walking through the park certainly got us noticed. I remember the Americans were so outgoing, shouting out congratulations to us. It was a perfect day. We've since moved to Fife but I have fond memories of Ladybower as on our 2nd date the mist really came in as we left the pub after the ride and I knew I'd bagged a goodun as hubby waited for me at the bottom of Snake Pass to make sure I'd managed all the corners (he probably thought I drove as slowly and badly as I biked ).

yeah I knew I shouldn't have used the IGMC
