Yep I'm still up for the 19th calver ride.  Steady pace and cake sound fab.

Ads you have mail.

Hi i'm just checking who is still planning to come on this ride.

I would say 10.30 start from the Bridge Inn Calver - i will post a link when i got more time

yep still on. see you sat hopefully. ( i've even cancelled a girls night out so i get up on time! )

my mate trudi might be up for it too ( shes a beginner but keen )

hello,

I'm not sure if I am going to be able to manage this without some serious patience from you ladies! I still want to come, but I've just started taking propanalol and it's killing my stamina. (I think it's that rather than me having lost a lot of fitness in two weeks. I sound like I'm full of excuses but I'm nervous about being a pain in the bum for everybody).

I've gone wimpy as a result and the prospect of the additional miles I've got on roads from home to station then train station to Calver is making me go a bit jelly legs. Other half is away so cannot act as chauffer

How busy is the A road from Grindleford to Calver ? Am I likely to get squished on it ?

Yey I'm still up for it.  Don't worry Steph I am SLOOOOOOW and will be using sore knee as my excuse for being pants on the climbs (I got signed off from physio on Tuesday, got drunk and sprinted across a road on saturday night = sore knee again DOH!).  I will also no doubt blame my bike at some point too as...er.... the chainstays are far too short so my weight is too far back and..... er......it's not designed for climbing.

p.s. not been to Calver before - what's the score with parking?  I'm guessing it's a no no to park at the Bridge Inn?  I would offer you a lift Steph but my bike rack can only take one bike, sorry.

dont worry about the pace anyone - slow pace means plenty of chatting and that's always nice! my daughter is certainly not fast, and would be nice for her to meet some other ladies to bike with other than me. steph, i sometimes cylce to calver from Sheff. I think from Grindleford to Calver is all downhill and not overly busy.its a B road i think.  Can probably give you a lift back to the station. Would 11am suit people better?

parking is here outside Curbar school

http://www.bridgeinncalver.co.uk/location.php  but Steph we can meet you at Calver cafe - 5mins away.

Confusingly, the Grindleford train station seems to be in Upper Paddley, but it's only another half mile.

I'll meet you at the pub,  I've got my route sorted now. It's pretty straight forward and the road looks fine, it's pretty much all down hill.

10.30 is fine for me, gives me time to get from station to Calver at a steady pace without meaning I have to wait around outside too long. If people prefer to meet later I can do that though.

I'm really looking for to this !

10:30 is fine for me.  Think it will take me about 1hr 15mins to get to Calver so it's not too early a start.  See you all tommorrow.

hi - those that have not been before - the best place to park is near the bridge pub. its actually just outside calver about 400yard towards Baslow  - in the lay by at Curbar Primary School. you will see the lay by with some recycling bins -

Hetty have got your number, but Steph do you want to email me yours in case of emergencies.

I'm ok for 11 if other peeps are.

I'll just chuck my mp3 player in my bag and try to avoid dancing in the street. Gives me some leeway for getting lost  too !

11 fine by me but anyone is there early, there is a very nice tea shop/ craft gallery establishment just  behind the bridge pub and along a few yards.

Ooh goody 11am is fine with me - I calculate that means I can have an extra 2.45 units of alcohol tonight now!

Hi all.

Was a great to meet you all this morning and I really enjoyed myself - that stinky downhill bit was even more fun today when I did it faster than last time. Still stinky though.

Would be good to meet up and ride again some time soon. Thanks for a good time and the distraction.
