Quite by chance I found this in a Sainsburies magazine yesterday. If you are gluten free eat wholegrain foods, quinoa, buckwheat and millet. Quinoa can be used for bread, put in stews and soup. It is also a good alternative to couscous and rice. Buckwheat use as rice and make pancakes from the flour. Millet can be made into porridge and the flour to make unleavened bread.

Nah, not really. I've always eaten eggs and honey. When the lactose thing kicked off I started eating fish again and I'm OK with very hard cheese and live natural yogurt from Longley Farm (they're a commercial dairy who happen to be local to me and sell in my village shop) - their bacteria seem quite friendly to me! I sometimes cheat and have a bit of ice cream, but always regret it for about 3 days. Ben and Jerry's raspberry sorbet though - the reason for going to UCI cinemas! Oddly though, there's milk in Quorn sausages. Have a terrifc time in Spain!

A bit late I know but just read the thread. My brother was diagnosed with coeliac disease as a baby 40 years ago. One of his treats, as he missed out on most biscuits and cakes, was coconut cakes - you get them in packs of about 8, shaped like a mini hill with a cherry on top?? I'm sure being purely coconut they must be packed with calories. Also, what about a baked potato or two after your ride? I used to wrap one up in tinfoil and take it to work - it was still warmish hours later and ideal for a snack before going to the running club - better than bananas. Sprinkle a bit of salt on it before wrapping for a bit of taste and it will also help replace lost salts. A bit boring but will fill a hole. Good luck!
