hi all

Does anybody have one of these saddles? I am thinking of buying one. Do you measure yourself from point of point of the 'sit bones'? Sorry to be so dense!

You should be able to go to a Specialized dealer and they will be able to measure your sitbones for you.
Jett saddle very comfy.

do I want a dealer to measure my butt?? Thanks for the recommendation for the saddle though! I'm fed up with being mashed by my Flite!

So the measurements given for the 3 different saddles do actually correspond with sit-bone width?
Show/hide user stats
I would think so. A friend of mine sat on the butt measurer and said it was entirely painless and amusing watching the young shop lad squirm when talking about women's backsides. Its probably the easiest way of getting them measured. Its not your backside that's actually getting measured, its your sit bones which has nothing to do with relative butt size!

I've got a noticeably bigger butt than my mate and we have similar sit bone width - suprisingly narrow for both of us.

I’ve sat on one of those butt measuring things – it’s just a gel pad you sit on and your sit bones will leave an imprint which is then measured. Don’t worry, the shop lads won’t get anywhere near your bum!

I’m thinking of getting a Jett for myself – I’m quite comfy with my current Selle Italia but it’s getting worn out and it’s too heavy.

As Anu says, it's quite amusing watching the lads in the shop go bright red - they were certainly more embarrassed then I was.

There are a few reviews on this saddle in the member reviews sections.

thanks everybody. I have read the reviews, which are useful. I was confused about the measurements and initially thought it was the actual width of the back of the saddle. The fact that it's sit-bone width makes a lot more sense.

I wish I'd read this article the other week. I bought one of these saddles at Leisure Lakes in Cheltenham a couple of weeks ago, and when I asked them how you find out which saddle is the right fit, they just said I could return it if it wasn't right - no mention of butt measuring equipment!

Despite that, while it's not the armchair that my Dolce Ti on my hardtail is, it was still pretty comfy for it's first outing on Skyline last Saturday.

I think I might try my more local Specialized dealer to see if they can measure me, and if it does appear to be the wrong size, I'll take it back.

I've just bought this saddle, dragged my mum into a bike shop the other week so I could have a look round. I was showing her all the things on my wish list when the guy asked if I wanted to be measured for the saddle so I could have the right size on my wish list. Then my mum decided to buy it for me. It's had two longish rides now and I really like it, much better than the saddle that came on the bike.

Hi. Has anyone used this saddle after using a Specialized Alias / Toupe? I've always been happy with the Alias but since changing pedals (from spd's to Shimano SL's) I've developed sores and cysts (I think) in..how can I put it - unwanted places. I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar problems which this saddle has resolved? Or could it be that the SL's have a shorter distance from crank to cleat, making my legs 'splay' less, thus (perhaps) resulting in the problems? Or is it just because I'm doing stupid amounts of miles?? I'd happily change saddles if I thought it would help. Any advice appreciated.

HIya ive used one of these saddles for the past few months unfortunately ive had to give it up. It looks great, fab on my racer though its had to go, blisters even after just 30 miles around my girlie bits. The nose to it is really hard, ive tried it with assoss cream and purchased assoss shorts, but to no avail. Im really disapointed because it looks so great. This is refering to thread title by the way

So that's the woman specific one that's caused you all that grief? In that case I suggest you try the Specialized Alias (slightly cheaper than the toupe) - since my posting my problems have cleared up, a combination of a lot of savlon, maybe slightly fewer long rides, and iron tablets. Skin problems (including blisters, sores, cysts and exczma) can be linked with nutrition as well as day to day pressure, so it might be worth looking at your diet too - I know that seems a bit extreme but I gave up bread and pasta and it's solved all sorts of problems.

I did buy one after posting here originally and I haven't been as pleased with it as I would have liked. I find the edge of the centre hole is very hard and digs into my bones after about 30 miles. The hole itself is brilliant and I am much more comfortable in that region as a result. I am putting up with it because I thought that it might soften with use. And I can't keep buying new saddles!!

I know what you mean - it gets a bit pricey! Might be worth looking at the position of yours too - might need moving backwards or forwards. Even a tiny amount makes a difference. And make sure it's absolutely flat too. They do soften but you shouldn't have to "put up with" something - it's got to be perfect really. It's a very important area!

ive got a 2006 and a 2007 specialized jet. i also have a 2007 allias and i gotta say that i found the jet to be more comftable.
id def recommend that you go and have your sit bones measured. what area are you from as i now a few shops that have female assistants for the specialized design for womens range

Specialized have a new saddle coming out for 2008, it looks like it could be a winner. The usual 3 sizes, white and black. Keep an eye on the site for some reviews.

We have a selection of saddles available for testing/demo including a couple of Jett's have you seen the article http://www.shecycles.com/news/article/mps/UAN/1305/v/2/sp/ which explains about the Saddle Demo cetner we have.
The saddles are currently in Morzine at the Dirtgirls camp. I am happy to either arrange a ride and bring the saddles or lend them to members.
Let me know if this would help any of you
